  • ROADTRIP!

Well, I leave for Florida tomorrow morning.  I'm looking forward to enjoying the new car on the open road.  Sirius Radio will really open up new roadtrip horizons for me.  It'll be cruise control most of the way though, I will take it easy on the car so I am not slowed by the police stopping me all the time.

BTW, here is the new engine compartment with the cold air intake, with and without the cover.

  •  STATIC-X

Just got back from seeing Static-X play at Scout Bar.  All I can say is AWESOME!  That has to be my favorite show thus far.  They sound at least as good as they do on CD.  I will definitely be seeing them again and it reinforced why they are one of my favorite bands.  It's cool to see the famous Wayne Static hair in person.

  • RECENT HEADLINES

There has been some recent news that, frankly, disgusts me.  Four cops killed last month in Oakland, CA by one manThree cops killed yesterday in Pittsburg, PA.  In Oakland, groups are gathering and celebrating the cop-killer as a hero.  In Pittsburg, the cop-killer ambushed to police as they approached the house.  I am concerned that this is the new trend amongst low-lives.  Cops have always had to watch their back.  But killing a cop has always had a certain taboo attached to it, for whatever reason.  But as we saw with school shootings, the turds who commit these kinds of crimes get their ideas from the media.  To all my fellow law enforcement officers on Xanga, watch you backs.  Remember, the number one rule of law enforcement is that you go home at the end of your shift.

  • THE LIFE AND TIMES...

I thought I'd update everyone on recent happenings in my life.  Nothing too exciting.  Most of it is still revolving around the new car.  :P

    • I spent and enjoyable evening at a fellow officer's house.  Several of us have been hanging out almost every Tuesday night since Hurricane Ike.  This officer recently started joining us and last night was the first time it was at his place.  Looks like his place is the new hangout.  He lives in the country, has no houses close by (and those closest belong to his family), and you can have a bonfire in the backyard.  It was great.  We were drinking until about 4:30 in the morning.
    • I ordered that P90X exercise program.  Several serious fitness guys in my department have tried it and said it really is a good workout.  I'm ready to get back in shape.  I regret not keeping it up after the police academy.  I decided to take a little break after that and five years later I'm still on that break.  It's time to stop thinking about getting fit again and time to do something about it.  I ordered the program and am waiting for it to come in.  I bout my chin-up bar today.
    • I ordered the cold air intake (CAI) for my car.  It is pretty awesome and not the one I was originally looking at.  This one is also carbon fiber, but it is about $60-$100  less expensive than the other one and it should add about 18.5 RWHP and 16.5 RWTQ.  I also have an oil catch can on the way, which should help keep the inside of my motor cleaner.  And to top it all off, and keep the engine compartment nice and pretty, I have braided hoses and black fittings for both.
    • It's really amusing how much attention the new Challenger gets.  So far it is a fairly rare car on the streets.  I have been been given the thumbs up at many a traffic light.  A lot of people approach me when I'm getting out and ask questions about it.  I bought it to have fun in, not for attention.  But it is really interesting how different this car is from any I've owned before (all two, three if you include the practice wife's Hyundai Accent).
    • I watched the Quantum of Solace yesterday on DVD.  I think Daniel Craig is the best Bond so far.  He really comes across as believable as an operator for MI6.  I think they are really portraying the character a lot better now, having ditched the cheesy gadgets.

  • EDIT:  So now that I have new wheels, and a new tire coming to put on one of the old ones for a full size spare, I think most of the cosmetic changes are done.  I do think the spoiler being black would really tie it up.  But besides that, I have a few performance mods in mind.  I am pretty sure everything I plan to do isn't going to require me to break down the motor.  I'd love to put a supercharger in, but that is way out of my price range.  Below is a list of things I want to do:

There are a few other minor things I want to do as well.  Most of it is really just cosmetic stuff that will keep everything show quality under the hood, such as the color matching of the cold air intake.  All this is going to add up, so I'll be saving up as I go and getting everything one at a time.

    NEW WHEELS!

I put the new wheels on the Challenger and I am loving them!

  • Some friends of mine also has an '09 Dodge Challenger.  Except theirs is Brilliant Black.  The husband is a police officer in my department, his wife is a dispatcher for my department.  Today we hung out.  I went to their house and we did a little photo opp for the two cars.  These were taken with my cell phone, plus my car was not clean.

It was a lot of fun.  I am going to try and wash the car tomorrow, but a cold front is moving in and I might freeze my ass off while I do so.  I'm also considering getting some new wheels for the car.  I'm looking at the black American Racing Torq rims.  They aren't too pricy and they have a classic look to them.  Here they are, tell me what you think:

  • NEW RIDE!

The new ride arrived at the dealership around noon!  So I will give them time to do all thier stuff and then I'll be hitting the streets!  More to come.

EDIT: I took a couple quick photos with my phone.  All things considered, they turned out pretty well.  Since I was told under no circumstances would my car go un-named, I named it Ash.  Which is of course based off my fondness for Evil Dead/Army of Darkness/Bruce Campbell movies.  I don't care if it works with the orange color.

(below) You can personalize the look of your stereo in the car.  Since I named mine Ash, I put up a photo of possessed Ash from Evil Dead.  It ended up working really well with the color scheme of the touchscreen.

  • EDIT #2:  I'm still waiting on it.  It hasn't arrived yet.

EDIT: I am thinking sometime in the future, after I save up plenty of money, I want to put some black rims on this beast and then paint the brake calipers orange to match the body.

So I made a purchase.  A new car.  I'm still waiting on it to get to the lot, as it is in transit.  In fact, I'm so excited about it that I tend to lose sleep anticipating it getting here.  Here it is, an '09 Dodge Challenger R/T:
